Smart doggie

A dog is so smart that his master decides to send him to college.
Home for vacation, his master asks him how college is going.

“Well”, says the dog, “I’m not doing too great in science and math,
but I have made a lot of progress in foreign languages.”

“Really!” says the master. “Say something in a foreign language.”

The dog says, “Meow!”

Success

Everyone who achieves success in a great venture, solves each problem as they came to it. They helped themselves. And they were helped through powers known and unknown to them at the time they set out on their voyage. They keep going regardless of the obstacles they met.

Patience pays

Stocks should be purchased when their prices are low (when the market is in extremely oversold position), not after they have risen to high levels during an upward bull-market spiral (when the market is in extremely overbought position). Buy when everyone else is selling and hold on until everyone else is buying - this is just more than a catchy slogan. It is the very essence of successful investment in the stock markets.

History shows that the overall trend of stock prices like the overall trend of living costs, wages and almost everything else is up. Naturally, there have been and always will be dips, slumps, recessions and even depressions, but these are invariably followed by recoveries which carry most stock prices to new highs. Assuming that a stock and the company behind it are sound, an investor can hardly lose if he buys shares at the bottom and holds them until the inevitable upward cycle gets well under way.

So, do your research into good potential companies or reits that carrys good dividend yield that are higher than your bank deposit returns and invest your hard-earned money into them. Dividend yield is one of the reasons why you should park your money into good dividend-paid company shares than keeping it in the bank, because you get paid holding these shares in your portfolio. The best you can get from your shares investment is reaping capital gain and good dividend yield at the same time.

New Property launches

Developers are planning to launch more mass market projects this weekend to take advantage of a recent surge in buying interest.

Hiap Hoe Group, a niche developer, will officially launch its 118-unit The Beverly, located at Toh Tuck Road, this Saturday. The starting selling price is $648 per square foot (psf), which Hiap Hoe says is an ‘attractive starting selling price’.

‘We have designed The Beverly for those looking for affordable, high-quality residential developments in a good location,’ said Teo Ho Beng, the company’s managing director.

The Beverly’s two, three and four-bedroom apartments range from 1,120 sq ft to 4,187 sq ft, while its double-storey penthouses range from 2,099 sq ft to 3,757 sq ft and are each outfitted with a private roof garden and pool.

On the other side of the island at Pasir Ris, Sustained Land Pte Ltd will also officially launch Coastal Breeze Residences come this weekend. Two and three-bedroom units at the 63-unit development will sell for $610-$660 psf.

Sustained Land has sold 13 units in Coastal Breeze Residences since the start of 2008 in a soft launch. The units, which were mostly prime apartments on higher floors, went at an average price of $690 psf.

Developers are also throwing in more upmarket features into their mass market offerings to entice buyers. Each of The Beverly’s 118 apartments is served by private lifts that open into the lobby of its interior. UOL’s Double Bay Residences will also offer extras such as full-length windows in the kitchen, the company has said.

Successful trading

Successful traders make trades in a carefree manner. They don’t put pressure on themselves to succeed. They don’t believe they need to be right, and they don’t need to predict the future behavior of the market. Instead, they objectively observe market conditions, react to them, and let the market take them where it wants them to go.

Successful traders are “in the zone” as Mark Douglas argues in his book, Trading in the Zone. Mark Douglas observes that seasoned traders do not doubt or second-guess themselves. They freely enter and exit trades without worrying about the consequences. This carefree approach to trading allows them to see trading opportunities more easily and allows them to take advantage of these opportunities when they arise.

The best traders are not self-conscious about their mistakes. They don’t regret past mistakes or worry about the future. They live in the moment. You can also live in the moment, if you practice cultivating the proper mindset. When you reach this peak level of experience, you’ll not only be more profitable, you will enjoy trading, and find it to be fulfilling in its own right.

The golfer

At a golf course, four men approached the sixteenth tee. The straight
fairway ran along a road and bike path fenced off on the left. The
first golfer teed off and hooked the ball in that direction. But the
ball went over the fence and bounced off the bike path onto the road,
where it hit the tire of a moving bus and was knocked back on to the
fairway.

As they all stood in silent amazement, one man finally asked him, “How
on earth did you do that?”

He shrugged his shoulders and said, “You have to know the bus
schedule.”

At the bank

Little Pauly’s mother decided that he should get something practical
for his birthday. “Suppose we open a savings account for you?” mother
suggested.

Pauly thought thought that was a good idea.

“It’s your account”, mother said as they arrived at the bank, “so you
fill out the application.”

Pauly was doing fine until the space for “Name of your former bank.”
After a slight hesitation, he put down “Piggy.”

The Loan

A woman went to the bank to arrange for a loan.

“I’m sorry, ma’am,” the teller told her, “but the loan arranger
is out to lunch.”

“That’s okay,” said the woman. “Can I speak to Tonto then?”
